Billing & Ops

Jobber vs. Housecall Pro vs. RentingOS: an honest 2026 comparison.

June 13, 2026 · 8 min read

If you run an HVAC, cleaning, pool, landscaping, or pest-control business, you've probably narrowed your software search to a handful of names. Jobber and Housecall Pro are the two best-known field-service platforms for SMBs. We make a third option, RentingOS.

This is a straight comparison — including where we are the wrong choice. If a comparison post never admits a weakness, it's an ad, not a comparison. So here's the honest version.

Full disclosure: we make RentingOS. We've tried to be fair to Jobber and Housecall Pro — they're good products that thousands of businesses run on. Verify current pricing and features directly with each vendor before deciding; plans change.

Where Jobber wins

Jobber is mature, well-designed, and has a huge base of happy service businesses. Its scheduling, quoting, and client communication flows are refined from years of iteration. If your core problem is "I need to schedule crews and send professional quotes fast," Jobber is hard to beat. The trade-off: it's built English-first, and recurring-contract billing plus a bilingual customer experience aren't its center of gravity.

Where Housecall Pro wins

Housecall Pro leans into consumer-style online booking, review generation, and marketing automation, with a large integration ecosystem. For home-services businesses that win on inbound bookings and reputation, that's valuable. The trade-off is similar: deep English-first design, and pricing that climbs as you add the marketing and advanced features.

Where RentingOS wins

We built RentingOS to run our own recurring-contract business — not to win a scheduling beauty contest. So our strengths are specific:

The honest line We're built by operators who've run their own recurring-contract business for 18 years — ~988 active assets, 64 clients, 4 countries. That's the lens we built through.

Where RentingOS is the WRONG choice

Because this is supposed to be honest:

We'd rather tell you that up front than sell you a tool you'll churn out of in three months.

How to actually decide

  • ✓ List your top 3 daily pains (scheduling? getting paid? bilingual customers? contracts?)
  • ✓ Match the platform whose core strength is your #1 pain — not the one with the longest feature list
  • ✓ Run a real free trial with your own customer data, not the demo data
  • ✓ Add up the real monthly cost with the features you'll actually use (watch the add-ons)
  • ✓ If a Spanish-speaking customer base is part of your business, test the bilingual experience end to end
